BARRANCO STREETS
Since it was founded, the city of Lima had a strong connection with the sea, and as the city expands, high-class inhabitants founded the village of Chorrillos during the 18th century. But after the destruction caused by the war of 1880 and the big earthquake of 1940, the village lost its charm and thanks to the railroad building in 1870, Barranco village became one of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods, especially during 1940-1960.
Barranco has a different mood than Lima Center, there are no big offices, but houses, art galleries, art studios, and restaurants. Its day life starts around 10 am when shops open, so we may start our photo walk early as 7 am to have the freedom to shoot with few people around or in the afternoon around 3 pm when people arrive to enjoy the neighbour and the bay view, even when is hazy.
WHAT KIND OF PHOTOS WE DO?
Architecture, city streets, people, landscape, long exposition.
WHEN TO GO?
The trip can be done the whole year, best if starts early, around 7 am in summer, 9 am as a regular hour or from 3 to 4 pm
SUGGESTED ITINERARY:
We may meet at your hotel in Miraflores, San Isidro, or at some point in Barranco.
We will start shooting streets, buildings and people in the San Francisco neighbourhood for one hour.
Then, we walk to the centre and Bajada de Baños / Puente de los Suspiros for another hour to finish walking along the seafront.
If the tour is taken in the afternoon if we are lucky we may shoot the sunset, the blue hour or a night view of the bay,
WHAT TO TAKE?
Basically in summer (Feb-mar) must use sunscreen and fresh clothes with higher temperatures close to 30C and during winter (aug-sep) a wind vest for temperatures of 13-15C.
LEVELS:
You may be a beginner or an expert. In case you want to learn we can teach you, showing tips about composition, light, and camera settings.
HOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE?
A walk in the area may take 3 hours on average, moving slowly, and stopping for photos.
Trip time may vary depending on your location but as is not too far from Miraflores or San Isidro you can use a taxi app to go. Ask if you prefer private transportation.
EXTENSIONS: This trip could be linked to other places or tailored to use for trying some food or visiting galleries, if you want a whole day trip we suggest to add Lima Center or an outdoor hike at the Valley of Pachacamac.
