LIMA bay LIVING

la punta - magdalena - BARRANCO -chorrillos

If you have already visited the main Centre of Lima, and want to visit some other spots in the city, this is the best choice.
Since its foundation in 1535, some small villages and farms have become districts. Oldest ones are those facing the ocean, so for this trip we will visit some of them: El Morro in Chorrillos, at the south side of the bay, from where we can have a citysight, the fishing port of Chorrillos, Barranco streets, La Punta in the northern extreme side of the bay where is located the main port of Peru and the market of Magdalena, located in one of the oldest districts of Lima and our best market choice in Lima.

Lima bay living & Local Markets Day Trip

09:30 Hotel Pick-up

10:00 La Punta, Callao Our first stop is the La Arenilla Wetland in La Punta, located at the northern edge of Lima’s bay. This peaceful coastal spot is perfect for photographing seabirds and enjoying the maritime atmosphere — a wonderful introduction to Lima’s coastal charm.

11:30 Magdalena Market We continue to the lively and traditional Magdalena Market, where you can stroll through bustling aisles filled with fresh produce, local flavors, and friendly vendors. Take the chance to enjoy a refreshing juice, a coffee from highlands, a quick snack, or share a chinese, jungle or Lima style food to recharge.

12:30 Barranco Next, we head to the bohemian district of Barranco. After walking a bit its streets, here there is another chance to try some good food. This is the ideal place for main lunch (Miraflores also)— whether you prefer a sit-down meal or a simple sandwich — all surrounded by art, culture, and relaxed vibes.

14:00 – Chorrillos & El Morro Our final coastal highlight is the fishing port of Chorrillos and the panoramic viewpoint at El Morro, where you’ll capture sweeping views of Lima’s skyline and bay.

15:00 – Return to Hotel

Note: All times are approximate. If we start earlier, we’ll rearrange the order of visits depending on the season, personal interests, weather conditions, and the time you’d like to spend at each place. Let’s plan together!

Options: We may begin earlier (around 7:00 AM) so we could start at Chorrillos and El Morro, with the chance to practice action shots at the mountain bike trails or the surf point of La Herradura.
We may add an early walk or at the end of the day by the Parque Bicentenario to try to take pictures of birds.
And to fulfill the experience we may add some extra hours to visit Lima Center (ask for additional cost)

What kind of photos we may take?

Architecture, city streets, people, landscape, birds, long exposition, and/or local activities.

What lenses are best for this trip?

For enthusiasts a smartphone or a basic camera works enough, but if you bring many lenses here are the suggestions:
A 85 mm, 105 mm for shooting people.
A zoom 24-70 / 24-105 / 35-150 mm good for multi use.
Additionals a tele and a wide angle lenses.
On sunny days a ND2 or polarized filter, and a ND16 or ND1000 if we are in a season of sunsets and you want to shoot some long exposures. Tripod recommended.

When is best?

The trip can be done for the whole year.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO BRING?

Basically in summer (Jan-Apr) you must use sunscreen and fresh clothes. Lima temperatures are on average 24-30C.
During winter (Jul-Oct) long sleeves and a wind vest for temperatures of 12-16C. Usually, it doesn´t rain too much (except in Aug-Sep) but bringing an extra coat for rain or cold may be helpful.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

This is a photo trip in street areas, we will walk slowly, anyway if cannot walk too much please tell us to adapt the itinerary.
